Lenme Loan Automation

My role

  • UX design: Wireframing, Prototyping

  • UI design+ Iterations

Project context

  • Lenme connects everyday investors with borrowers through short-term microloans. Our challenge was to design an automation feature that enables users to invest hands-free based on custom rules—without losing transparency, control, or trust.

Defining The Problem

The Problem

Active investors wanted a faster way to fund loans. But…

  1. They kept manually applying the same filters.

  2. They felt frustrated by missed opportunities.

  3. They wanted to automate, but not feel out of control.

📈 User Insight:

63% of users reviewed the same filters every session.
28% reported frustration due to "manual fatigue."

✨ The Spark

It started with a message from an investor:

“I missed another good loan. I was at work. Again.”

Mark wasn’t alone. Our user feedback consistently revealed one truth:
manually investing was exhausting. High-quality loans were funded within minutes, and unless investors were glued to the app, they often missed out.

That’s when we asked:
What if Lenme could invest for you — just the way you would — while you focus on life?

The Challenge

We weren’t just building a feature — we were building trust in automation.
Investors wanted speed, but they didn’t want to lose control.

So, our challenge was twofold:

  1. Let users define exactly what kind of loans they want.

  2. Ensure transparency so they feel confident about what's happening in the background.

Designing the Experience

We began with interviews, looking for patterns in user frustration. Most investors had a “mental checklist” when choosing loans — credit score, repayment term, income range.

So we turned that checklist into a rule-building engine

🎯 Goal

Build a feature that lets investors:

  • Set investment rules based on loan and borrower data

  • Autonomously invest when conditions are met

  • Manage, edit, or pause rules anytime

  • Gain confidence in automation through transparency

Key Features & Screens

  1. Accessing Automation

From the main menu, users can enter the Automation section — placed among core account features like Transfers and Settings.

I placed "Automation" right in the main menu, signaling its importance next to core actions like Transfers and Settings. We wanted it to feel like a natural next step in their investing journey.

2. Introduction & Education

Users are onboarded with a brief explanation of how automation works and how it can help optimize their investing.

  1. Manage Existing Rules

Users can view all active/inactive rules, toggle them on/off, and get alerts (e.g., insufficient balance warnings).
